Which Caliber is Best

This is a very hotly debated question. You must read the STRASBOURG TESTS of 1993.
There are many people out there that think in order to survive a social encounter you must have and use a 45 acp caliber handgun. A full metal jacket bullet with a velocity of approx. 750 feet per second (FPS) depending on your barrel lenght is total IGNORANCE.
Modern technology has brought us powder and improved bullet projectiles that put this theory to shame. Have you ever seen the destruction created by a MAGSAFE bullet ????

Most important thing to remember is BULLET PLACEMENT, regardless of what caliber you select. Check the velocity and the foot pounds of energy (FPE) of your favorite 230 grain hardball bullet in 45 acp caliber.
Now lets look at technology of current design, years ago at the famous, disasterous FBI shooting in Miami, some agents were using 9 mm bullets with marginal velocity. The bullets fired did not perform very well and regretably good agents were killed. By todays standards , lets look at a box of CORBON POWER BALL for starters (there are other good manufacturers also)

A 9mm Corbon Power Ball 100 grain bullet travels at a velocity of 1475 feet per second (FPS) and has 483 foot pounds of energy (FPE).
Power Ball in 357 Sig caliber using a 100 grain bullet has a velocity of 1600 FPS, with 568 FPE.
Power Ball in 40 S&W caliber using a 135 grain bullet has a velocity of 1325 FPS, with 526 FPE.
Power Ball in 357 mag. caliber using a 100 grain bullet has a velocity of 1600 FPS, with 579 FPE.
Power Ball in 45 acp caliber using a 165 grain bullet has a velocity of 1225 FPS, with 550 FPE.

Triton QUICK SHOK pre fragmented ammo in 40 S&W ammo using a 155 grain bullet has a velocity of 1200 FPS, with 496 FPE in a 4 1/4 inch barrel.

I could go on and on but you get the picture. You do NOT need a very slow 230 FMJ bullet to do the job for PROTECTION OF LIFE AND PROPERTY. If you used a barrel that was 3 inches in length, That dimension includes the chamber so you would only have about 2 inches of rifling giving you about 650 FPS (depending on the burning rate of the powder used).

You must realize how devastating these smaller calibers really are PROVIDING YOU PLACE THE SHOT IN A VITAL AREA. "ITS BULLET PLACEMENT"

Its TOTAL NONSENSE to believe the only way to walk away from a SOCIAL ENCOUNTER is using a 45 acp caliber with a 230 grain FULL METAL JACKET bullet with energy of approx. 350 foot pounds depending on the length of your barrel and the brand of your ammo whether it be commercial or G.I. issued.
