DISCLAIMER: THIS COMMENTARY AS WELL AS ALL MY PREVIOUS COMMENTARIES ARE MY PERSONAL OPINION AND MY PERSONAL VIEWPOINT ONLY. WHEN I QUOTE SOME ONE IT IS COPIED AND PASTED FROM A PUBLIC FORUM OR A PUBLIC DOMAIN.

This is a critical topic that we can not over look as most of us are faced with the problem of Protecting our assets which can not only help us but can become an anchor around our necks. I have thought about this my entire life as the more I owned the greater my dilema became a reality in protecting not only my property but mainly my weapons.

I live in a real world of no nonsense and no BS. "IT IS WHAT IT IS" I can not change anything or prevent any major attack from happening to my country whether it be from a natural disaster or an attack by Islamic terrorists. Those that know me can tell you that I am like this in person or in a phone conversation or in what I write.

There is a magazine article in the November 2005 issue of GUNS MAGAZINE about a Beretta model 87 I did many years ago. I will not be doing any more work on this model. I know Masaad Ayoob meant very well by writing about this action I did but there will be no more Beretta model 87's in my future. I meant to mention this now because I am receiving a number of phone calls.

My good friend and partner on PROJECT STREET GUN, Mr. Camp and I have been discussing another small group using a Springfield Armory Mil-Spec 1911 and making it into a first rate street gun. I will welcome email about this, tjacobson@houston.rr.com .
I would like most of our project members to be from the area that I live so that they can have total access to me for help in person. Please visit Mr. Camps website and read about his personal Mil-Spec SA 1911 pistol. www.hipowersandhandguns.com
This Project Street Gun is not for a Target Shooter, it is strictly for survival on the streets.

Getting back on track to protecting your property and your equipment requires some very careful thought. I have a very big yard and I want you to think about this scenario that follows.
You are in the aftermath of an attack from Terrorists and you have no electricity. You have a small emergency generator and you decide to use it. You start it up in the dead of night and its on your back patio and the sound can be heard from a long distance.

All your neighbors are in the dark. How will you keep your generator from being stolen ?? You first must bolt a piece of angle iron to your slab of concrete in your patio area, you can use concrete anchors or you can use a Remington power nail gun. This bracket must be secure as you will need to get a secure chain or a cable wrapped inside flexible vinyl that may be 1/2 inch thick. You are going to tie down the generator frame to your steel bracket, with a superior lock that has a hardened shackle.

If your property is wide open you may need some type of military trip wires that will announce an intruder instantly. There are many ways to do this either electronically or with a blank bullet and a trip wire. Do not use fishing line for your trip wire because if you do it stretches, get the proper wire. You can use a rat trap in an emergency, which will make a loud noise when tripped. As I said originally your assets are now your major problem. No red Gas cans should ever be in sight of anyone.

Life is going to become very cheap when the people are without power for weeks on end. Its very dangerous to run a generator in your garage because of the deadly fumes unless you can set up an exhaust system. Your neighbors are going to try and tap off your generator and so I am trying to prepare you in how to deal with it. Most of you will have small generators that will barely fill your needs, you will not be able to share your power and you may have to run your generator sparingly to save on fuel.

We have all learned some very bitter lessons regarding disasters and the worst are yet to come. I went thru misery while in Florida after some storms and I have been without power for over a week in the past. They now sell room air conditioners that do not have to be placed in a window, they are available in places like Home Depot or maybe even Lowes. If a person is sick and its super hot outside this may be a worth while investment to run off your emergency generator, they are not expensive. You will need the proper size extension cord and I mean wire size as the longer the distance from the generator to your appliances, the bigger the wire size is necessary, for example size 10 wire is bigger than size 12.

In the end it comes down to self survival and without having a gun for protection of life and property, you do not stand a chance to keep your assets and maybe your lives will be in jepardy, depending on how bad some one wants what you have. I have given you survival lists many times but now its your decision whether to get what you need or wait like most people and live in a false sense of security.

No matter what I write about which guns that I like I get emails about why I did not mention this gun or rifle or this and or that caliber. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT EVER WORKS FOR YOU. IN THE END IT WILL BE WHAT EVER YOUR SELECTION WAS. If you become desperate and things have gone to far and you are trying to buy a gun cause you have cash, most people including me will "NOT" part with any firearm. If I could I would buy some more Glock pistols right now and another Shotgun.

If you have electronic equipment buy a good battery testor. There is no end to tell you what you will need. Do not keep batteries in electronic devices while they are not in use because they may corrode. I have seen it time and time again. One of the very best buys I have seen lately is a 5 inch black and white portable TV that works on electric current and or batteries and it is about $20.00 brand new in a box, of course made in China. Everyone should buy one of these, along with a Police scanner and a GPS electronic unit.

I recentely bought a Cold Steel Machete that will do the job of hacking wooden brances that are causing me a problem. It is for my son to use as I am too old for that. No one can ever get enough of everything but you must start some where. I now save every empty plastic bottle that I use for an emergency. I have no faith in the federal government helping me in a time of crisis. I will help myself, and my main problem is going to figure a way on how to protect my own assets.

Illicit nuclear material intercepted
Romania's 'Arab Mafia' involved in smuggling operation

Interpol sources quoting Romanian and Bulgarian police and customs authorities say the Bulgarian police, acting on intelligence collected from undescribed "foreigners," managed to prevent a shipment of lethal nuclear enrichment material from crossing into neighboring Romania.

The source told G2B intelligence organizations in Western Europe and the Balkans believe the final destination of the dangerous material was to be Iran. The Sophia News Agency reported this week their sources "could not give the intended final destination of the consignment, but the working hypothesis of Balkan police forces, is that it is linked to Iran’s nuclear quest." The SNA further elaborated by saying "then again, there are always al-Qaida armorers keen to buy dirty bomb material."

G2B further learned this was not the first such case and that since the beginning of 2005 more than 10 kilograms of Hafnium, a material which could be "the dirty component" in a terrorist dirty bomb, were confiscated. The recent success in intercepting nuclear enriched material resulted in nabbing 3,5 kilograms on the Romanian-Bulgarian border. A police source said the shipment, discovered in a car driven by a Bulgarian national, was confiscated in Russe in the northeastern Danube region.

Investigation findings shared with Interpol and western intelligence and police services linked this shipment to the so-called Romanian Arab Mafia. According to police the Romanian capital Bucharest became already years ago a hub of Arab militant activity, at times supported by ousted and later executed President Nicolae Ceausescu. Journalist Michael Redu published an article titled Romania’s Toughest Hour on May 16 in which he wrote:

“Unlike most former Communist states in eastern Europe, Romania has a long history of ties to the Arab world, a legacy of the late dictator Nicolae Ceausescu’s policy of rapprochement with the Third World. Tens of thousands of Arab “students” military trainees and other assorted dubious figures from the West Bank, Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon, passed or spent some years in pre 1989 Romania.

They learned the language and have maintained ties with some locals. As a testament to this, the Arab Mafia still flourishes in what passes for Romania’s private sector.” The present situation in Romania in connection to jihadi and Arab intelligence activity is best described by a Romanian source who requested to remain anonymous to avoid endangering his job. According to him there are in Romania anywhere between 250,000 to 400,000 Muslims of whom many are illegal residents with ties to organized crime and to a variety of terror groups.

Some of those groups are affiliated to the Iraqi insurgency and to supporters of Musab al-Zarqawi. The Romanian Arab Muslim community is a target for Middle Eastern intelligence services, including the Israeli Mossad. The Israeli agency has no problem in recruiting agents from within the large Israeli Romanian community. British, German and Italian security services and those in several other countries are exercising a similar effort also through their large Romanian communities.

It is important to differentiate between terrorists, narco-terrorists and Arab organized crime in Romania. Each group has a different goal but in the murky world of terror and counter-terror the dividing lines are blurred, as all criminal groups practically need each other to further their goals. According to the CIA, Romania is one of the major centers for drug trans-shipments from Asia, Central Asia and even Latin America. Terrorists, especially al-Qaida, maintain close alliances with drug lords and smugglers.

One source said the high standard of Romanian higher education, and a vast pool of unemployed or underemployed professionals, enables criminal and terrorist groups to find experts in cyber crime, chemistry, electronics and more. One officer told G2B Bucharest is becoming the capital of methemphetamine production with many high-class laboratories capable of manufacturing not only drugs but also explosives, including the design of dirty bombs.

One example of the connection between Arab Mafia and terrorism is the case of the March 28 kidnapping in Iraq of a number of Romanian TV journalists and their interpreter. The five people were kidnapped by what is believed to be an Iraqi crime organization acting upon requests and instructions from Bucharest Mafia bosses. The criminals expected to be paid four million dollars as ransom but when the Romanian government refused to yield, and during clandestine talks with the kidnappers rejected any deal, the criminals operating once again on Mafia instructions from Bucharest handed the hostages over to the Ansar al-Sunna group operating mainly in central northern Iraq with only loose ties to Zarqawi.

This by itself is proof there are close ties and cooperation between organized crime in the Balkans, their counter-parts in Iraq and with the terrorists. The findings along the Romanian-Bulgarian border raised the alarm among law enforcement agencies in the west where governments continue to wait anxiously and with great fear for what will sooner or later become a mega terrorist strike with the use of a WMD. The material en route to the wrong hands via the ties of the Romanian Arab mafia, should send signals this danger is not only present but imminent.

Mexican mob expands through U.S.
Specializes in counterfeiting identification papers

A Mexican crime organization, specializing in counterfeiting identification papers, has expanded its operation throughout the U.S., according to law enforcement sources. The Castorena Family Organization is a large-scale criminal organization with more than 100 key members who oversee cells of 10 to 20 individuals in cities across the United States, according to public court documents filed by the U.S. government in Colorado and in other judicial districts around the country.

Several of the senior leaders of the organization are believed to be based in Mexico, although they enter the U.S. occasionally to oversee the operations of lieutenants of the crime family, according to Jim Kouri, vice president of the National Association of Chiefs of Police.

Phony Matricula Consular card The organization is alleged to be involved in the manufacture and distribution of high-quality counterfeit identity documents, including Social Security cards, birth certificates, marriage certificates, U.S. and Mexican driver licenses, Matricula Consular ID cards, resident alien cards, work authorization documents, proof of vehicle insurance cards, temporary vehicle registration documents, and utility bills (many states require driver license applicants to show utility bills as proof of residence).

Court documents also indicate that the crime organization started out in Los Angeles in the late 1980s, primarily manufacturing and selling counterfeit alien registration and social security cards. The organization soon expanded its counterfeit document operations to other cities across the United States, including New York City, Chicago, Las Vegas, Denver, Atlanta, Albuquerque, and other cities.

Over the past decade, the organization has been managed by six Castorena-Ibarra siblings: Pedro, Alfonso, Jose, Maria, Francisco Javier, and Raquel. During the last several years, three of these siblings, Pedro, Maria and Francisco Javier, have maintained direct involvement in the counterfeiting operations of the organization in Denver and elsewhere. In recent years, several of these siblings have been arrested and prosecuted in the United States.

Others have fled to Mexico to avoid prosecution. The group has been the target of federal investigations in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Miami, Dallas, San Antonio, Las Vegas, Albuquerque, Denver, Lincoln, NE, and Des Moines, IA., according to Kouri. "For example, Immigration and Customs Enforcement investigations of the CFO in Los Angeles in the late 1990s resulted in the seizure of millions of counterfeit documents with an estimated street value of $20 million," he says.

"The documents were linked to more than 400 investigations and seizures in more than 50 cities in 33 states. The American Express Corporation attributed more than $2 million in losses to counterfeit identification documents that were traced to the CFO just in Los Angeles." In Denver, ICE investigations into the organization have resulted in the criminal prosecution of more than 50 individuals. Dozens of additional members of the mob in Denver have been arrested and deported to Mexico, Colombia, and El Salvador.

ICE agents in Denver have also been responsible for the seizure of at least 20 computerized laboratories affiliated with the group and used to manufacture high-quality counterfeit identity documents. Agents have also seized 21 computers, 21 silk screen printing templates used to produce counterfeit documents, and nine handguns. Court documents indicate that cells in various US cities are exceptionally well organized.

Cell leaders typically keep schedules with the names of each counterfeit document vendor and the times they are to report to a designated area to sell fake documents. The local cell leaders also record the number and type of false documents sold by vendors during their “shifts,” as well the funds collected for each transaction. "The vendors are allowed to keep a portion of the proceeds, with the remainder passed to the local cell leader," says Kouri. "Cell leaders, in turn, pass on a portion of the proceeds to the senior leaders of the organization.

Senior leaders charge a 'rent' or 'franchise' fee of as much as $15,000 per month for cell leaders to operate in a particular U.S. city. These funds and other proceeds of counterfeit document sales are funneled to Mexico and other locations for those overseeing the group." The organization moves its funds through three primary methods. Often, funds are wire transferred via money transmitter businesses. In other cases, bulk cash and checks are moved through express parcel services.

In addition, the organization often employs couriers who physically transport U.S. currency across U.S. borders and between U.S. cities.
