I read your piece on securing generators. You are right.Here in Richmond,Virginia we had a bad hurricane 2 years ago, hurricane Isabel. Most of the town was without power for about 2 weeks because lots and lots of trees had been blown down.I think it was over 90 or 95% without power.

The problem was the amount of time it takes to clear all the fallen trees off the powerlines.Anyway, people did steal generators. All the hardware stores sold out. One of the sneaky ways generators were stolen was this:

Guys would come up in the middle of the night while your generator was running. They would drag along an old lawn mower and start it up and then cut your generator off and run off with it. You would be in side the house with the lights out and just using the generator for your refrigerator or freezer.

So all you are listening for is that generator sound. If you were napping you wouldn't know the difference in the sound. You wake up the next morning or a few hours later and notice that your refrigerator isn't that cold and you look out in the back yard and you have an old worn out lawn mower were your generator use to be. The other issue that came up was neighbors complaining about generator noise. They are very noisy.

Some people want to run them all the time. Other people just run them for a few hours at a time. But for sure, you need to chain those generators down. Another thing we Richmonders learned about generators is that you can rig some sort of pigtail and come out of your generator and plug it into your dryer electrical outlet.

I am not an electrician, but the voltage runs from the generator into the dryer outlet, and then into your main fuse box.This allows you to use any of your outlets in your house. It powers the house. Obviously you can only pull what ever your generator will produce. But it is a neat trick. You just have to get a male 120 volt/male 220 volt cord to go from the generator to the outlet were the dryer plugs in. Ask some electrical guys about it. Everyone in Richmond was running it that way.

I have tried for a very long time to get all of you to understand that certain events will take place that is beyond our control. We must be responsible for our own survival the DAY AFTER THIS HAPPENS.You must own a gun for the protection of life and property. I mean to say your life and the lives of your family are dependent on your very decisions that you make now.

All these assets are an anchor around your neck and the have nots will try and steal everything you have unless you make the proper decisions now. I have no clue how much time we have but I am convinced that 2006 will be worse than 2005. By now you should have a great deal of necessary handguns and a rifle or shotgun ready.

Your ammunition should be located in various places in your house. You can not have enough ammunition as its a bartering tool. TWENTY bullets in 9mm caliber should get you water or food or gas. As things decline and gas prices go up you can understand the very cost of trucking these daily supplies will increase to the consumer. The truckers must pass the cost on to you, there is no other way.

Lets take a city like Denver, Colorado, everything is trucked in and you think about how far it must come to reach Denver. How far is the closest major city from Denver, probably 400 to 5oo miles. I lived there at one point in time and the cost was sky high then.

I am trying to point you in the right direction and it really does not matter at this point in time which handgun you like best, we have gone to far to still fight the caliber war as you will be fortunate to have a good reliable handgun, but never rely on one gun. Had I relied on one handgun I would be pushing up daisies long ago.

Its what ever you like and not what I like. I am still very content with my Glock or HK P7 M8or my HK USP or my revolver. In the end it will not matter.What will matter is the ammunition you have and or the magazines you have for your pistols.

Islamic clerics point out that the signs in the heavens are propitious for such an event.This year, Muslims will experience solar and lunar eclipses during the holy month. These great heavenly signs, according to Islamic visionary Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Sahib, foretell the coming of the "Mahdi," the mighty warrior of the Apocalypse, who will defeat the army of Yajuj wa-Majuj (“the infidel unbelievers”), led by the Dabbah or “the Beast.”

He will lead the Muslims to great victory and bring forth the Day of Islam, when all of creation falls before the throne of Allah.Islamic tradition says that the Mahdi will be a descendant of Muhammad through his daughter Fatima. He will have a distinctive forehead, a prominent nose, and a black mole on his face. He will arise from Arabia and will be called from a cave by Allah to serve as the savior of all true believers.

Osama bin Laden's forerunner? Osama bin Laden has the high forehead, the prominent nose, and the black mole. He hails from Arabia and received his calling from a cave in Afghanistan. Bin Laden speaks of the president of the United States as Dabbah, the beast he must slay, and of the American people as the Yajuj wa-Majuj, the nation of Gog that he must destroy.

In his edicts and official correspondence, he no longer signs his name as Osama bin Laden but as Osama bin Muhammad bin Laden. Is Osama the Mahdi? Many Muslims believe so. The solar eclipse occurred Oct. 3 and the lunar eclipse will take place Oct. 17. This is a unique phenomenon that only occurred once before - - during the Ramadan of 1894. At that time, Muslim scholars said that the next occurrence of twin eclipses will signal the appearance of “the divinely guided one” and the end of human history.One Muslim, who views bin Laden as the Mahdi, is Sheikh Nasir bin Hamid al Fahd.

Al Fahd recently issued a religious ruling or fatwa on behalf of the clerics of Saudi Arabia that granted bin Laden and other terrorists the permission to use nuclear weapons against the United States. In the fatwa , titled "A Treatise on the Legal Status of Using Weapons of Mass Destruction against Infidels," al Fahd rules that international law should not be taken into consideration while determining if America should be nuked.

Islamic law, he says, overrides all man-made laws.To the question of whether a nuclear attack would violate the Islamic teaching that “the basic rule in killing is to do it in a good manner,” al Fahd argues that this teaching means that one should only kill in a good manner “when one can.” He goes on to say that it is permissible in certain circumstances to kill women, children, and fellow Muslims for the sake of jihad.

Al Fahd justifies the mass casualties and destruction that would be caused by the American Hiroshima -- the al Qaeda plan to detonate seven tactical nuclear weapons in seven major U.S. cities -- by arguing that an estimate of the number of Muslims killed by Americans would total “almost 10 million. He writes: “If a bomb killed 10 million of them [Americans] and burned as much of their land as they have burned the lands of Muslims were dropped on them, it would be permissible, with no need to mention any further argument".

Al Fahd’s fatwa, despite its significance, has not been published -- either in portion or in entirety -- by any leading American newspaper or news outlet.Concern about a possible nuclear attack on the U.S. during Ramadan was first raised by the CIA’s interception of a communiqué of May 30 from Abu Masals al-Zarqawi to Osama bin Laden. In the letter, al Zarqawi speaks of a “great Ramadan offensive” that will create a “fateful confrontation between the United States and Israel.”

Such concern was heightened by the appearance of Ayman al-Zawahiri, al Qaeda’s second in command, on a taped message that was aired on al-Jazeera Aug. 8. He issued the following warning to the American people: “What you have seen, O Americans, in New York and Washington and the losses you are having in Afghanistan and Iraq, in spite of the blackouts by your media, are only the initial clashes. . . .

You will experience horrors that will make you forget the horrors you have experienced in Vietnam.”In addition to the Double Occultation of the sun and the moon, many Muslims see other signs that Allah seeks the destruction of the United States, including the devastation wrought by hurricanes Katrina and Rita.Paul Williams is the author the new book, "The Al-Qaeda Connection."
