"PROJECT" - Update

WELCOME TO THE NO BS ZONE.
I have decided to give you an update, and Mr. Camp and I want to thank you for the tremendous response we have received from so many of you. Our only intent is to play it straight with all of you. We want to give the average person an opportunity to own a superior street gun. When I was a young man I could never have afforded a very expensive handgun, living expenses came first. No one ever gave me the oportunity to learn, very few people were as kind to me as Major George Nonte, but in those days people did not know. Today, I know and I can help you, when you see what I look at in regard to attention to detail you will understand what I mean.

To prove my point, I will give you an example, there were very good smart people in the old days that were very wrong in what they wrote and what they showed you in their books. There was a soft cover book called "PISTOL & REVOLVER GUIDE" , Third edition, Stoeger Publishing Company, no reference on printing date, copyright dates are 1967, 1970, 1975 . On page 153 there is a picture of a 1911 showing the feed ramp and the barrel relationship and the text under the picture says, FEED RAMP MUST BE GROUND DOWN AND POLISHED SMOOTH SO THERE IS NO "STEP" BETWEEN FRAME AND BARREL.
THIS IS VERY WRONG, IT IS BAD INFORMATION, THEY DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT WE KNOW TODAY. THERE "MUST" BE A BARREL FRAME GAP.

Our Project 1911 Mill Spec Pistol itself will cost our Team member between (approx.) $388.00 to $440.00 depending on which model the individual member selects. The cheaper one will have the tiny G.I. sights and the higher price will include better more visible sights. To my knowledge that will be the only difference. It will not be my choice but the people in the project. I will start a list of the supplies we will give you and have it ready soon. I will include specific items you will need, which will not be very much.

You can still have a reasonably accurate 1911 pistol with out having a custom barrel. I chose this particular pistol because it has a very good frame to slide fit. As I stated in my previous commentary, I have no objection if one of the selected project people already owns a mill spec pistol that is identical to the one we are going to use, because I must understand the geometry I am going to work with. It seems this mill spec pistol has a straight spur hammer which is fine with me. If there are any thumb safeties or grip safeties, etc, to be installed it will be best for me to do this personally for the Project people. Example, a thumb safety must be low enough in the down position where there is at least a gap of 1/16 of an inch in order to clear the lower edge of the slide. Look at a new P.O. LDA and see how bad there thumb safety is installed.

We want it to be the very best it can be, you will never need a tool for reassembly when it is completed even if I must refine each one personally. I will speak with each person on the project and we will use the best trigger for the job. I have given this a great deal of thought. I have worked on these mill spec 1911 pistols many times. I will look forward to owning one myself.

Mr. Camp is excellent with his digital camera and he will take what ever photos that we will need, along with my very detailed video, we are on solid ground. If necessary I will drill out the sight dots in the slide for better visibility and we will use fluorescent paint.
Please email me if you have any questions and I must speak with everyone personally that will be in our Team Project, unless I already know you. I want to thank all of you for your emails and your phone calls. Our projected Project is slowly becoming a reality. THANKYOU...
