KG Coatings

WELCOME TO THE NO BS ZONE OF TEDDY JACOBSON

KG Industries was formerly Kal-Gard Coating and Manufacturing Corporation. Kal-Gard was founded to provide dry film lubricants and thin film protective coatings to Government and Industry. Kal-Gard became known for developing one strong product after another, and became a major supplier of wet and dry film lubricants, and protective thin film coatings to Aerospace and Military concerns.
Kal-Gard became the leader in developing products for the Motorcycle, Firearms and Automotive markets. For many years Kal-Gard was considered the standard to compete against.
In 1992 Kal-Gard Coating and Manufacturing Corporation changed its name to KG Industries, Inc. KG Industries now manufactures the original Gun Kote™ formulas, a fine line of gun care products, a new line of Micro PTFE Lubricants as well as developing custom coatings for a continually growing OEM market. KG Industries is a wholly owned company serving a world wide market.
We believe that Gunsmithing and gun care is an art if not for anything else but the number of products on the market and the number of ways shooters have found to use them.
Most shooters agree that the "best known" products are not always the best available. You only have to witness the many new products advertisers are constantly trying to push on us and the number of home brews and garage formulations to understand this. It is the people who have asked themselves the question "there must be a better way" to whom we want to talk with. Browning Corp. did and is why they use our
KG-2 in their R & D department.
Most of our products were developed and improved by the people who use them. Paying attention to our customers is the reason why
KG-1 was originally developed. There was a need for a product that would attack copper without the use of Ammonia KG-1 does this. But - Since that time we developed KG-2 which when used in conjunction with KG-1, 3 and 4 will offer a system for cleaning your firearms that we believe is second to none.Ask Accurate Arms Company, Inc..
KG products is developing a reputation, much like Kal-Gard had for so many years, to produce and offer quality products at a fair price. KG Products strives to find the "better way." This is the quest we embark on each and every day.
If at any time you have a question about the products you are about to see and read about, or if you would like more information, call us. After all, it is our listening skills that have helped develop our products. Look for our products now in Precision Shooting - Brownells - Midsouth Shooting Supplies and Midway! We are growing!

All KG products can be used for industrial purposes. One leading manufacturer of tea uses the Engine Gard and Chain Kote. They use Engine Gard in the gearboxes of the drive motors on conveyer production lines, and spray the chains that drive the production lines with Chain Kote. This same company tested these products over a four-year period. They had bought 6 new, 1.2 million-dollar machines for their production facility. Two of these machines were started with Chain Kote and Engine Gard. The other four machines were started using the manufacturer’s recommendations. After four years, the two machines with KG incurred approximately half the down time as the other four machines.
A California based food processing plant uses Gun Kote on the prune pitting tables to protect the metal frames from corrosion.
Our products have been tested over several years using racing teams, Dino’s, and have been subjected to rigorous testing in aerospace and military units. In every case performance gains and or maintenance cost reductions were experienced. It is not unusual to have electric motors use less electricity, internal combustion engines gain RPM, guns to look better function better and last longer.
Other, More Exotic Uses for Our Coatings:
A combination of products such as Gear Kote and Gun Kote will provide outstanding results in high performance horsepower engines. In recent tests, the intake manifold of a high output engine was coated with Gear Kote and the outside of the intake manifold was coated with Gun Kote. This combination resulted in a measured 8% increase in horsepower (40 horses) on the Dyno.

K-Phos is a major breakthrough in the field of corrosion protection. It was developed to provide a simple method of applying an organic sealed phosphate coating to metal. Highly resistant to rust and corrosion, it provides an excellent bond for Gun Kote. Easily applied, K-Phos offers the protection against rust and corrosion formerly available only by means of a complex system of tanks and solutions. Surfaces treated with K-Phos can be exposed to weather for several days until a final finish is applied without losing its protective effectiveness.
Chipping and PeelingBecause of the fine crystalline structure of the phosphate coating that is combined with the organic binder, K-Phos provides improved impact and bend resistance, superior to conventional phosphate treatments.
Easy to UseK-Phos is a non-aqueous liquid chemical that is applied at room temperature as supplied to the user. One gallon will cover from 1200 to 1800 square feet. Two simple steps are involved in the application of K-Phos:
First, the surface to be treated is thoroughly cleaned. Machined surfaces need only to be solvent cleaned to remove all traces of oil, grease or similar contaminants. Surfaces with scale, rust, or corrosion should be solvent cleaned, sandblasted to expose the bright metal.
Second, K-Phos is applied and allowed to stand 10 to 15 minutes or until dry to the touch.
TestsIn laboratory tests, steel panels treated only with K-Phos have been subjected to the standard salt test for 72 hours without a breakdown of the coating. Painted panels, scored through to bright metal, after 250 hours showed a fine line of rust only where the bare metal was exposed.
UsesK-Phos can be used as a protective pre-finish treatment. Manufacturers find it the perfect solution to rust and corrosion problems on all types of machinery and farm equipment, tools, nuts and bolts, metal office furniture, fluorescent light fixtures, iron railings, wrought iron furniture and fixtures, boat trailers, electrical switch boxes, water heaters, lawn mowers, bicycle frames, etc. Because of the ease of application, painters and metal finishers, mechanics and machinists, farmers and homeowners can use K-Phos wherever positive rust prevention is required.
Meets Government Requirements K-Phos meets the requirements of specifications Mil-C-490A and TT-C-490 applicable to phosphate coatings.
If coating is not to your satisfaction at this time, it can be removed with Acetone, Alcohol or MEK. To re-coat simply repeat the process.
