A1. Having gotten so many request for older type handgun models that I recommend is very difficult as each company were good in specific years of manufacture. Example - I have an old SW revolver model 66 that is about 40 years old and at that point in time they were made with stainless steel adjustable sights, I do not think I can pin down each different company and be able to tell you what to look for by way of serial numbered handgun. The answer to this situation is to learn all you can about what a quality handgun looks like and if its a revolver you must learn how to check timing, cylinder end shake, check the crane, etc, etc.

B2. Its rather easy to check these older handguns when you study the basic operation. You want to look for marks that show signs of wear and frame to slide fit and barrel lockup, these used or as new handguns must be in your hands for your inspection. NEVER BUY A HANDGUN THAT IS SOLD AS NEW UNLESS YOU HAVE SEEN IT OR KNOW THE HISTORY OF THAT PARTICULAR HANDGUN. I personally would never trust these people I know nothing about as they are just in business to sell guns. The sad stories I could tell you would make you sick.

C3. I try to buy everything from direct wholesalers that I can trust even though its sight unseen. I have no problem buying from a reputable wholesaler like WSS, or Zanders, or Ron Shirk, or RSR, etc, etc.

D4. I want to stress the point that you should "NOT" be changing springs just because some SCHMUCK on a forum told you to. It seems there are expoits everywhere, but listen to me and use common sense. A person can use other reduced power springs providing he or she knows what they are doing. As far as 1911 magazines, they all claim there is best, I for one am convinced that the "COBRA" magazines are top rated for the 1911 pistol.

E5. Carrying a handgun legally is an awesome responsibility that should not be taken lightly. You must learn to use it properly and safely. You must understand that you can never call that bullet back, once its gone you must live with your decision.

F6. I look at a handgun much differently than most people, as my carry handgun must be internally perfect as I can get it. I do not care whether its polymer or steel, what I care about is the reliability and my ability to feel very comfortable using it as a lefty. I am a great believer in some of these new coatings that are being used by other more advanced industries.

G7. I got an email that I forgot to answer. The only 1911 pistol that I know of that was made for a left handed person was a "RANDALL"... I rarely see them anymore but they do exist. Where they a super good quality pistol ?? "NO" There are people that do collect these Randall pistols.

H8. I have always liked the Beretta 92F pistol. You must remove the extractor from time to time and clean it and the firing pin. This is not a super difficult job but it must be done to preserve reliability. You must keep it on the dry side, our military found out how important this is while in the "SAND BOX"... I suggest you use Militec metal conditioner and then wipe it down, it may feel dry but there will be a very thin film of lubricant on the pistol to help it function reliably.

I9. All Beretta 92F pistols lock up in the rear and the rear locking block must be kept clean. I know that Marc at ISMI gunsprings 800 773 1940 now makes recoil springs for the 92F and he probably has magazine springs which are made out of Chrome Silicon which is a superior spring wire. If you are going to use weak ball ammunition you must stay as close as possible to the 13 lb. factory rated recoil spring as supplied with every 92F.

J10. I have always found most of the Beretta and Sig 380 acp pistols too big. I would rather have an S&W 3913 semi auto in 9mm luger as its about the same physical size. The Sig 239 in most calibers is in my opinion the best carry gun that Sig makes at this time. I strongly recommend that you stay with the 9mm caliber because hard times are coming. It will be an easier caliber to find and or used for barter.

K11. You must take your magazines apart periodically and clean them. Be sure you keep them on the dry side after they are clean internally as a pentrating oil will ruin your cartridges if your ammunition is not sealed.

L12. I clean all my carry ammunition with a metal polish and then I coat each cartridge with carnuba wax. This will ensure superior feeding proving your gun is cared for properly.

M13. I am a strong believer in carrying at least a second handgun of a smaller caliber. I also believe its critical to carry proper self defense knives. Some of the very best tactical folders I have seen are the new very high dollar Cold Steel models like the Black Sable and the Black Talon. These are not cheap knives and the blades are made with their famous SAN MAI STEEL. These superior folders retail between three hundred to four hundred dollars.

N14. Of the small pocket handguns I like the North American Arms Mini Revolver in 22 magnum with a 1 5/8 inch barrel. Another good choice is their Guardian semi auto pistol or if you can find a Colt Mustang. If you use a Colt Mustang in the light weight version do not use a steel guide rod, stay with the original polymer guide rod to protect your frame.

O15. For those people that want to reload straight wall pistol cartridges you must trim your cases to the proper length, you must clean your primer pockets and make sure your flash hole is opened. I suggest you buy a Lee factory crimp die for each caliber you reload. This Lee die is worth its weight in gold and its very in expensive.

P16. There are far more advanced powders that a reloader can use today compared to when I started to reload when I was 18 years old. The world of reloading has advanced a great deal and even the bullet projectiles that are now offered are a major advancement compared to years ago. Remember that most all the reloading company suppliers like Speer and Sierra, etc, etc, have toll free phone numbers and technicians or engineers to help you with your questions or problems.

Q17. Having a reloading press that is called a progressive press that can make more ammunition per hour does NOT mean that it is capable of making any better ammo than a single stage press. I have always used either a single stage press or a turret press made by Redding.

R18. It would not cost a person a great deal of money to get started in reloading. It would give you piece of mind knowing you had your own ammunition factory in case you could no longer buy factory ammunition. Once you learn how to make quality ammunition you will have just the tools you need. It depends how much you want to get into this hobby and survival situation. You can get a case vibrator that will clean your brass and there are so many options I could write a book on what to do.

S19. In each pound of powder you have 7000 grains of powder. Lets say your 9mm luger uses 6.0 grains of powder in each cartridge case, you will be able to load 1166 cartridges with each pound of powder. If you are loading 38 special ammunition and lets say you are using Bullseye powder, you will use approx. 3.5 grains of powder in each cartridge, you will be able to load 2000 rounds for each pound and of course you will need one primer for each cartridge.

T20. If you are going to load up 223 ammunition for your AR 15 - knowing that there are 7000 grains of powder in each pound, you will put approx. 26.0 grains of powder in each 223 or 5.56 mm cartridge. You will be able to load up 269 rounds of 223 Rem. ammunition.

U21. I no longer reload any ammunition because its too hard on my should joints but I know quite a bit about this subject. I used to reload 38 special cartridges for self defense using hollow base wadcutters inverted upside down. I did this because in my youth there was not the availabilty to purchase destructive projectile bullets that you can easily get today.

V22. You can make just as good ammunition using a single stage press with a minimum amount of equipment. It depends on your knowledge and ability to learn this procedure correctly. If you have high primers you will have major problems in reliability so its critical that you clean your primer pockets and learn to seat your primers correctly. This is critical in making superior ammunition.

W23. I suggest that anyone that is interested in reloading buy a reloading manual. I think the best one to buy first would be the SPEER RELOADING MANUAL. One book will never be enough but its a start in the right direction. Most of the powder companies offer free reloading books in a very condensed form.

X24. I suggest you avoid nickle cases and just stay with brass because of the added dimension that is added to the nickle cases. Many people do not realize how much trouble this can cause you in a semi auto pistol depending on your breech face and extractor. When ever I have worked on a 1911 pistol I have always set it up to accept nickle cases but many Smiths do not understand this.

Y25. Using nickle cases is less of a problem in a revolver unless you are using +P+ ammunition and then extraction may become difficult in tight chambers of your cylinder. I have polished many chambers in years past to cure this problem.

Z26. You must limit your use of grease in your carry gun. NO GREASE ON THE FIRING PIN OR THE BREECH FACE OR THE EXTRACTOR. Remember grease attracts burned and un burned powder like a magnet and this could cost you your life. Keep you gun clean as your life depends on it. For those in the Sand box reading this please pay attention to this last comment, try and get some Militec metal conditioner. Contact www.militec-1.com

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s speech in Tehran last fall, in which he called for Israel to be wiped off the face of the earth, got a healthy amount of coverage by the international media. Yet, despite the number of stories published and broadcast, a key element of that address to “The World Without Zionism” conference was overlooked, ignored – spiked, if you will – by major press organizations.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the podium of the "anti-Zionism" conference. It wasn’t just a world without Zionism and Israel that Ahmadinejad and his friends in Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad and other terrorist groups were envisioning. It was a world without the United States of America. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. In this case, it is literally true.

Examine for yourself the photos published here of Ahmadinejad addressing the Tehran conference Oct. 26, 2005. Some of them will look very familiar. Those showing the Iranian president gesticulating at a podium showing the name of the conference were published worldwide – from Al-Jazeera to the Associated Press. But those showing a wider view – and the complete poster for the event – are getting their biggest audience yet here in G2B. It is worth noting that Ahmadinejad didn’t just stroll up to the podium.

The Iranian government actually produced the visual aids you see here. Yes, that is a ball representing the USA cracked at the bottom of that hourglass —with another representing Israel falling later. It wasn’t just the imagery of the conference that was overlooked, ignored, unreported and underplayed by the world press. It was also the anti-American substance of Ahmadinejad’s speech.

“Is it possible for us to witness a world without America and Zionism?” he asked. “But you had best know that this slogan and this goal are attainable, and surely can be achieved.” What is he talking about? Iran has developed a strategic “war preparation plan” for what it calls the “destruction of Anglo-Saxon civilization.” The chief architect of that plan, Hassan Abbassi, says it involves making “use of everything we have at hand to strike at this front by means of our suicide operations or by means of our missiles.”

“There are 29 sensitive sites in the U.S. and in the West,” he elaborates. “We have already spied on these sites and we know how we are going to attack them.” Iran does not believe America has the will to take it on militarily – at least not with another Iraqi-style invasion. “The Americans are not ready to send a million men,” he says. Oddly, and surprisingly, Iran’s strategic plan doesn’t mention destroying what it calls “the little Satan” first.

What is known about it suggests it involves taking on “the big Satan” – the U.S. – first. “Once we have defeated the Anglo-Saxons,” says Abbassi, “the rest will run for cover.” This was the context through which Ahmadinejad’s address to 4,000 “students” – including soldiers for a variety of terrorist organization – organized by the Association of Islamic Students Societies. “I am grateful to God for giving me the great pleasure of speaking at this very important gathering,” he said.

“I thank God for seeing the pious faces of you, the valiant, aware, God-fearing and selfless children of the revolution, who understand with vigilance and intelligence the most important issues of our times and are active with great zest and in a decisive way in the most central issues of the Islamic world. I thank God for the presence of you dear young people.”

An angle that reveals a little more. From there, Ahmadinejad wasted no time getting directly to the point. “The real question is what is Zionism?” he said “No doubt there have been many discussions in this conference on this issue and you have made studies in this regard, and you may know what I want to emphasize, but it is something worth mentioning. We must see what the real story of Palestine is. Is the conflict in Palestine a war between some Jews on the one side and Muslims and non-Jews on the other side?

Is it a war between the Jews and other faiths? Is it the war of one country with other countries? Is it the war of one country with the Arab world? Is the conflict only over the limited lands of Palestine? I think the answer to all these questions is negative.” He went on to explain that the establishment of Israel was “a heavy move by the globally dominant system and Global Arrogance against the Islamic world. There is a historic battle going on between the Oppressor World and the Islamic world and the roots of this conflict go back hundreds of years.”

He said Israel was created by the oppressors as “the bridgehead for its domination of the Islamic world. Bridgehead is a military term in warfare. When two divisions or armies are fighting each other, if one side advances and breaks through the front and captures a piece of enemy territory and builds up fortifications and strengthens its hold to make it a base for further territorial expansion, then we call this a bridgehead.” “The battle that is going on in Palestine today, therefore, is the frontline of the conflict between the Islamic world and the Oppressor World,” he explained. “It is a battle of destiny that will determine the fate of hundreds of years of conflict in Palestine.”

Most of the media coverage, however, stopped with Ahmadinejad’s call for the elimination of Israel. But that was only half the speech – and half the conference. He went on to offer a vision of a world without Israel and the U.S. – and explained that the objective is achievable. “They say how could we have a world without America and Zionism?” he said. “But you know well that this slogan and goal can be achieved and can definitely be realized. To those who doubt, to those who ask is it possible, or those who do not believe, I say accomplishment of a world without America and Israel is both possible and feasible."

Hamas’ representative at the conference, Abu Osama Abd-al-Moti, said later: "With your help and support and the support of the entire Islamic nation, our people can remain steadfast and confront Israel and America until this cancerous gland is removed.” It was clear throughout the conference – from both the speeches and the props – that America was as much the enemy as Israel. Ahmadinejad, a veteran of Iran's hardline Revolutionary Guards, took office in August after scoring a landslide win in a June presidential election.

He spoke at the conference of a "historic war" taking place in the world today. "It dates backs hundreds of years,” he said. “Sometimes Islam has advanced. Sometimes nobody was winning. Unfortunately over the past 300 years, the world of Islam has been in retreat." Scott McClellan, the White House press secretary, said following the speech, “I think it reconfirms what we have been saying about the regime in Iran. It underscores the concerns we have about Iran's nuclear intentions." It’s worth noting that the sponsoring organization held a conference last year called "A World Without America."

The deputy chief of the Revolutionary Guards, Mohammad Baqer Zol Qadr, explained: "When we talk about the 'World Without America,' we mean a world governed by peace and justice. ... Unfortunately, today America is the symbol of these deficiencies and distortions." An official video, with footage from the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, when both planes hit the World Trade Center, was shown at the conference. Classical music played as another image appeared with the word "America" spelled out in flames.

Each letter disappeared -- leaving an empty screen. As the video continued, the music grew louder and the words "The World Without America" appeared in English and Farsi - accompanied by a picture of the Statue of Liberty. Lady Liberty's body had a skull imposed on it. Ayatollah Khomeini could be heard in the background: "Oh sleepy ones, oh distracted ones, wake up and look around you: You have built your house near wolves' dens. Rise, this is no place to sleep.

We must shout: Rise up soon because the world is not safe from the hunter. America is lurking for you, and will not give up until it destroys you completely. Indeed, if there was a global mobilization of Muslims, would anyone dare to be so impudent and act so cruelly toward the spiritual offspring of the Messenger of Allah?" The new rhetoric arising from Iran comes at a time when it is becoming increasingly clear that Iran is actively supporting Osama bin Laden’s al-Qaida network – materially and financially.

In his new book, “Countdown to Crisis: The Coming Nuclear Showdown with Iran,” Kenneth Timmerman interviews dozens of Iranian defectors and officials, examines classified documents and debriefs high-level intelligence sources. He paints a picture of an Iranian nuclear program already in place and active cooperation between Shiite Tehran and Sunni al-Qaida.

Will U.S. use nukes on Iran?
Many plans drawn up for inevitable attack

As the world moves closer to the inevitable showdown between the West and Iran over the Islamic republic’s efforts to develop nuclear weapons, a once-unthinkable scenario has been actively considered by U.S. war planners – the use of tactical nuclear weapons to destroy the hardened nuclear targets. There’s something ironic – and frightening – about the concept of destroying nuclear weapons plants with nuclear weapons. But it may be, say G2B sources, the only option that is truly effective against Iran’s well-concealed, if not unknown, nuclear sites.

The Natanz nuclear facility in Iran The reason for the dire plans – and that’s all they are at this point, contingency options – is that Iran’s nuclear facilities are buried and well-fortified against the kind of conventional air attack Israel launched against Iraq’s nuclear site. Iran’s nuclear targets are also much better protected by radar and anti-missile systems. No ordinary explosive ordnance could do the job. So the U.S. military – as well as Israelis – are actively planning to use bunker-buster bombs, and, possibly, tactical nukes.

But no one imagines that such an attack could be surgically precise. So war planners have also drawn up scenarios involving an actual invasion of Iran. According to Paul L. Williams, author of “The Al-Qaida Connection,” the designated targets include the Bushehr nuclear plant, where Russian, Chinese and other foreign national nuclear scientists are working, a uranium mine in Saghand, near the city of Yazd, the nuclear enrichment facility in Natanz, a heavy water plant and radio-isotope facility in Arak, the Ardekan Nuclear Fuel Unit, the Uranium Conversion Facility and Nuclear Technology Center in Isfahan, the Tehran Nuclear Research Center, the Tehran Molybdenum, Iodine and Xenon Redio-Isotope Production Facility, the Tehran Jabr Ibn Hayan Multipurpose Laboratories, the Kalaye Electric Company in the Tehran suburbs, the Radioactive Waste Storage Units in Karaj and Anarak, a reportedly dismantled centrifuge technology plant in Lashkar Abad and some 60 other additional sites and nuclear installations.

In addition to those sites working specifically in the nuclear realm, primary targets include the Shahab missile launching sites, air bases, including the Mahrabad air base and international airport on the outskirts of Tehran, naval installations on the Persian Gulf and Caspian Sea and command, control and communication centers. For good measure, secondary targets include radio and television installations, telecommunications centers, government buildings, conventional power plants, highways, bridges, rail lines, port facilities and oil installations.

In other words, Iran would be left severely crippled following such attacks, suffering significant casualties and virtually non-functioning as an economy. Israel has its own plans, though none as extensive in their devastation as the most draconian U.S. military scenarios. The Jewish state, fearful that it will be left to Israel once again to take out a radical Muslim nuclear bomb factory, has plans to use its elite Shaldag (kingfisher) commando unit, which has set up a mock-up of Iran’s Natanz uranium enrichment plant in the desert to practice destroying it.

The mock attacks rely on air strikes by F-15 jets from the 69 Squadron, using bunker-buster bombs to demolish underground facilities.
