Who should be worried about Sharon’s death? Yes, Sharon died, and became history even if he wasn’t buried. Sharon spends his last days on earth, and he will have not effective political role after his sickness, as doctors keep him in vegetative situation living on machine’s support.

About ISMI (printed with permission)
www.ismi-gunsprings.com
Integrated Systems Management, Incorporated was founded by Marc Cosat. Marc spent six years with World Class Pistols, teaming with George Huening to create some of the most innovative and successful competition pistols and accessories available to shooters. During this time their pistols won every major championship:
the IPSC World Championship, USPSA National Championship, the Bianchi Cup, the Masters, Steel Challenge, USPSA 3 Gun Championship, European IPSC Championship, etc. With this success at the highest levels of competition, one truth was realized: If the springs did not perform properly, it did not matter who built the pistol, how accurate the pistol was, or who pulled the trigger; the pistol and shooter could not function up to their full potential.
Your firearm is simply a mechanical device comprised of numerous parts or sub-systems. Working together they form an integrated system; the functioning of this system is managed by springs. The role of the springs is integrated systems management.
Springs are our only product line. We are dedicated to providing the shooter with the highest quality product produced from the highest quality materials by the strictest quality control standards. Innovative design, use of certified aerospace specification materials, ISO 9002 quality control standards, 12 month replacement warranty: all at competitive prices.
The ISMI Difference
ISMI premium springs are manufactured exclusively with certified aerospace specification alloys; stainless or chrome silicon. Then our springs are heat treated, shot peened and stress relieved after winding to enhance performance and durability. Our springs utilize the same design and manufacturing technology as used in IndyCar and Formula One racing. In a typical 500 mile race, a valve spring in an IndyCar will go through more than 2,500,000 compression cycles. Consideration of factors such as modulus, wire diameter, mean diameter, active coils, total deflection, spring relaxation, maximum service temperature, and operating environment; results in you having modern spring technology available for your pistol.
Because of the properties of music wire; it cannot be heat treated, shot peened and stress relieved after the spring is wound. Additionally, music wire lacks consistency from bulk lot to bulk lot. This results in inconsistent performance from spring to spring. This is the same technology that was in use 90 years ago when John Browning designed the 1911 style pistol.
We believe that springs shouldn’t be an ongoing worry or concern for the shooter. Springs should be an annual routine maintenance item. Change them once a year; go shoot and have fun.
We believe our products are “The World’s Finest Gun Springs”. It is this belief that allows us to offer a replacement warranty that is unmatched. We acknowledge that anything that can be produced may have a problem. This is why we offer the warranty.
As a consumer, you would not consider buying a new car, computer, appliance or other item with no warranty, you gun springs should be the same. If they are good enough to sell, they are good enough to stand behind.
Spring design should be an evolutionary process. Only with feedback from shooters can problems be addressed or changes made that will enhance the performance of the spring and thusly, the pistol. Should you have any questions, please call.
Thank you,
Marc G. Cosat 800 773 1940
12 Month Replacement WarrantyAll ISMI springs are covered by a 12 month replacement warranty. Even for failure due to wear.
A Few Reasons to use ISMI Gunsprings
Certified Aerospace Specification Materials
ISO 9002 Quality Control Standards
All Springs are Heat Treated, Shot Peened & Stress Relieved
Proprietary Design Features Enhanced Durability
12 Month Replacement Warranty
How often should the recoil spring be changed? The recoil spring should be changed, at the latest, when it has lost 0.500” of free length from new. At this point, the spring has suffered a considerable reduction in load exerted at installed (when the gun is in battery).
How long will an ISMI recoil spring last? In independent testing, ISMI spring have endured in excess of 100,000 compression cycles. We don’t recommend going that long between changes however. With an ISMI spring, practice routine maintenance and change it once a year. See our warranty information on page 5.
Should I use a spring buffer? We do not recommend the use of a spring buffer in the 1911 pistol. Buffers tend to be a bandage for a recoil spring that no longer performs adequately. Put a fresh spring in instead. Buffers reduce slide travel which can have an adverse effect of feeding reliability. In addition, buffers can break apart during firing and make the gun inoperable.
STI & SVI magazines and springs - how can I get them to function reliably? There are a number of things that are involved in attaining reliable magazine function. Proper magazine dimensions are critical. ISMI includes the factory specifications on each package of STI/SVI magazine springs. If your magazine is out of spec, you can return it to the factory or have an experienced pistolsmith tune it. Make sure that the interior surface of the feed lips are smooth and free from burrs.
Virgil Tripp at Tripp Research www.trippresearch.com
has conducted independent spring testing and covers his results in the tech talk section of his web page. They also provide a number of tips and recommendations for STI/SVI mag bodies.
ISMI standard capacity mag springs have 11 coils instead of the standard 10 coils. We did this to maximize spring loading with the belief that it is easier for the shooter to remove a coil if necessary rather than try to add another coil to the spring. In some cases this will cause the solid height of the spring to be too long thus causing the top 3 transition coils to be compressed inside the spring, leading to premature failure. If in doubt as to whether you should remove a coil, give us a call.
The amount of space that the spring works in when fully compressed is directly dependent on the internal dimensions of the magazine. We have customers that can use our 170mm spring in their 140mm mags with no loss of capacity; conversely we have had customers tell us that in what should be the same magazines, that they have lost a round of capacity with our 140mm length springs. This is the cause and effect of differences in the internal side to side dimensions of each magazine body
Certified Aerospace Specification Materials insure consistent mechanical properties of the bulk material. This means repeatability of performance in every production run.
ISO 9002 Quality Control Standards are used to give the shooter springs that are dimensionally consistent.
All Springs are Heat Treated, Shot Peened & Stress Relieved to enhance durability, consistency and reliability.
Proprietary Design Features enhance the springs ability to hold the pistol in battery longer when fired to maximize energy dispersion and reduce sight movement.
Maximum Service Temperature of our materials goes up to 700°F. Music wire has a maximum service temperature of 250°F and can be negatively affected at temperatures as low as 175°F. This is important because temperatures approaching or exceeding the maximum service temperature are highly detrimental to spring life. Exposure to maximum service temperatures promotes additional spring set and is detrimental to the relaxation of the spring. In other words, the spring will not decompress as rapidly.
12 Month Replacement Warranty extends beyond just materials and workmanship. We even cover failure due to wear. Failure due to wear is not some arbitrary figure: if your ISMI 1911 Recoil Spring loses more than 0.375” of free length in 12 months it will be replaced at NO CHARGE (no shipping charge when sent by US Mail) regardless of the number of rounds fired.

Most Americans are instinctively opposed to turning over control of six major U.S. ports to a foreign, Arab-owned company. But are there strategic reasons to deny a company partly owned by the United Arab Emirates a contract to supervise sensitive port operations near some of the U.S.’ largest population centers?
Sheikh Mohammed It is not a secret that the UAE had ties to Osama bin Laden, al-Qaida and the Sept. 11, 2001, hijackers specifically. As far back as 1999, U.S. intelligence spotted bin Laden at a desert training camp in Afghanistan for about a week. There was an opportunity to destroy the entire camp with cruise missiles. But the operation was called off because an official aircraft from the UAE was spotted, along with members of the royal family.
It turned out bin Laden was hunting with the princes of the UAE. Concerned that the princes might be collateral damage in a strike, the mission was called off. Two years later, 3,000 Americans were killed as a result. In addition, at least two of the 19 hijackers were from the UAE. The UAE was one of only three countries in the world to recognize the Taliban regime in Afghanistan.
UAE banks have also been found to be a source of terrorism financing – before 9-11 and after. The UAE has proved less than cooperative with American investigators tracking that funding. But the UAE is attempting to moderate its image. Last month, a new ruler of the kingdom assumed power following the death of Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Maktoum. On Jan. 4, Sheikh Mohammed became the ruler of Dubai. Just in case “ruler” isn’t definitive enough, the next day the Supreme Council elected him vice president, too.
What do we know about the new face of the UAE? Well, he writes bad poetry – or at least poetry that doesn’t translate well to English. Here is one of his offerings – about the murder of Muhammad al-Dura, the 12-year-old boy killed in a shootout between Israeli police and Palestinian terrorists. His death became a cause celebre for Muslims worldwide, despite the findings of several investigations that strongly suggest he was killed by the Palestinians. Pressed back, without supporter A child defenceless, confronting aggression Hiding, the bullets of tyrants Have no mercy for a child, so young Seeking shelter, slaughter him the criminals Savages, whose tyranny never waned Oh Mohammed, in Paradise of the eternal Oh Mohammed, your voice reverberates throughout Oh Mohammed, with you, the God of the Worlds Whose mercy enfolds you forever Oh Mohammed, who saw you grieved And all, if we could, would sacrifice A thousand million, the Muslims All for you, Mohammed, fathers Alas, where is the peace of the just?
The peace you seek is futile Lost it, without doubt, the usurpers When allowed their hatred to renew And boiled the blood of Arabs, East and West When Sharon visited the mosque Oh Arabs, comrades for years Bury that which passed, as became Our greatest concern, to defend against aggressors Who against Al Aqsa their aggression began My nation, would that you unite In lines, terrified then the enemies Follow Zayed, the leader of the wise Who called for unity and initiated Oh Saladin, oh the greatest conquerors Oh Omar, oh the dignified and the generous The state of the nation allures the greedy We seek naught but unity to satisfy This is the face of “moderation” in the Mideast.
Not only was Muhammad al-Dura's death not the responsibility of the Israelis, several investigations showed conclusively it was staged -- then used to mount hysteria through the Arab and Muslim worlds. Then there is the question of how much difference it will really make if the UAE company is controlling port operations. Last weekend, the peputy director of the Port of Miami, Khalid Salahuddin, defended the deal. "They (the Arabs) are not buying the Port of Miami," he said. "They are buying part of one of the operators at the port."
This came just one day prior to the closure of an Ohio-based Hamas charity, KindHearts, whose South Asia Division coordinator, Zulfiqar Ali Shah, has been linked to Salahuddin. In September of 2002, along with an entire cadre of Islamic radicals, Salahuddin was featured with Shah at a Davie, Florida, event inappropriately titled, "A United and Secure Florida for All." A lecture by Salahuddin, "Belief in the Unseen," is featured on the MeccaCentric Da'wah Group, an organization that sells videotaped speeches made by numerous Islamic radicals.
This includes Siraj Wahhaj, a man whose name appears on a U.S. Attorney's list of potential co-conspirators to the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center. In November of 2001, Salahuddin, who is an ex-member of the Nation of Islam, was caught up in a scandal, whereby convicted felons - with cases ranging from attempted murder to pedophilia - were hired to work at the Port of Miami. About this, Salahuddin stated, "From our standpoint, what benefit would it do to kick him out on the street?
We see none." The Australian government's Departent of Foreign Affairs and Trade currently offers the following "Travel Advisory": "We advise you to exercise a high degree of caution in the United Arab Emirates because of the high threat of terrorist attack. We continue to receive reports that terrorists are planning attacks against Western interests in the United Arab Emirates." Joe Kaufman, chairman of Americans Against Hate, said in response: "Of course, Mr. Salahuddin wouldn't mind the purchase of American ports by the United Arab Emirates, a country that presents a potential terrorist threat to the United States and her allies abroad. Salahuddin's involvement with Islamist radicals is well documented.
We call on the United States government to investigate Khalid Salahuddin and consider him a liability in the sensitive position he holds in this strategic area of Homeland Security."

GAO issued stinging rebuke to Customs in ‘04

Long before the nation’s attention was riveted on port security by the plan to put a United Arab Emirates company in charge of operations at major U.S. facilities, the dirty, little secret known around Washington was that a nuclear weapon could easily be smuggled into the country in an ordinary cargo container. As far back as March 2004, the General Accounting Office took the Customs department to task in a blistering report on failed risk management – singling out its “Automated Targeting System” for special scrutiny.
“Without incorporating all key elements of of a risk management framework and recognized modeling practices, [Customs] cannot be reasonably sure that its targeting strategy provides the best method to protect against weapons of mass destruction entering the United States at its seaports,” said the report.
The GAO talked to terror experts who warned that relying on a ship’s manifest, as Customs does, to determine what kind of cargo it is actually carrying is foolhardy, since these documents are notoriously inaccurate and subject to tampering. The agency also noted that ABC News had successfully simulated the smuggling of a nuclear device into New York by placing depleted uranium into a lead pipe and placing it in a cargo container. That story began July 4, 2002, when the network transported a suitcase containing 15 pounds of depleted uranium on a 25-day, seven-country journey from Austria to the U.S. No one ever inspected the cargo.
It was shipped ultimately from Turkey to New York. At 2 a.m. on July 29, the ship carrying entered New York Harbor. It was tied up in Staten Island where Customs claims to have a state-of-the-art system in place to detect even low-level amounts of radioactivity. The container was actually singled out for special screening – which only 2 percent of containers entering the U.S. receive – but it was approved for delivery.
Experts said that if Customs did not recognize the radioactivity levels of the depleted uranium, the agency would not have detected weapons-grade uranium either. In addition, Customs X-rayed the container and took no interest in the fact that a large piece of metal was in a shipment of Turkish horse carts. In the X-rays, the material would have looked like a pipe bomb. Customs officials say the problem is resources – that they simply don’t have the money to inspect every cargo container.
Yet, as G2B reports, the U.S. government expressed little interest in a proposal by American businessmen to build offshore port facilities that would be able to do just that – with no public financing involved. A follow-up report by the GAO last year said: "An effective port security environment may be many years away." Specifically, it cited the vulnerability of cargo containers to tampering at their points of origin overseas, where the agency found only piecemeal inspections. The Congressional Research Service, in a report last year to Congress, wrote that despite progress in port security, "many security officials still describe seaports as ‘wide open' and ‘very vulnerable' to terrorist attack." More than 20 federal agencies play a role in securing the nation's ports.
The primary responsibility falls on the Coast Guard and the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection, both in the Department of Homeland Security. Interestingly, the Department of Homeland Security opposed the UAE port deal.
