Handgun Decisions

WELCOME TO THE NO BS ZONE OF TEDDY JACOBSON

FYI - ADDED 4-28-06

I THOUGHT IT WAS VERY IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO KNOW AND UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE IN SPRING WIRE AS PER ROCKWELL HARDNESS ON THE "C" SCALE.
IF YOU USE MUSIC WIRE OR PIANO WIRE SPRINGS AND THEY ARE ONE AND THE SAME, THE ROCKWELL HARDNESS IS IN THE LOW TO MID 20's (TWENTYS)...

IF YOU USE CHROME SILICON OR STAINLESS STEEL WIRE SPRINGS AS MADE BY http://www.ismi-gunsprings.com 800 773 1940
THE ROCKWELL HARDNESS OF THEIR CHROME SILICON OR STAINLESS STEEL SPRINGS AFTER HEAT TREATING IS IN THE LOW TO MID 50's (FIFTY'S)...

I JUST THOUGHT I OWED YOU THAT EXPLANATION.

ADDED OPINION 4-26-06

I felt it was important to add this opinion of mine which is as follows. I personally believe that many of the people that post opinions of items and about specific details about specific brands and models of handguns are using an assumed name and they are working in the upper management of that particular company. These are positive comments that are designed to find favor with the product they are talking about.

I have had this opinion for a very long time. I do not believe its the $10.00 per hour employee but it is the upper management of their respective company. I believe this is all designed to show you how satisfied they are with the with their product to increase sales. I have always believed all this. Of course it is my opinion only and if you think about what I am saying it all makes sense.

I believe the actual factory worker knows how really screwed up their factory operation is but they are in no position to discuss this on an open forum because they have to support their families and they must keep their income.

I HAVE DECIDED TO FINALLY STATE MY OPINION ABOUT THE BS ON THESE FORUMS AND THESE CHAT ROOMS. IT IS VERY EASY FOR A COMPUTER PERSON TO USE A FICTICOUS NAME, CHECK THEIR PROFILES AND THEY TELL YOU NOTHING. THIS IS MY OPINION ONLY. See Disclaimer below...

The more handguns I see and the internal quality they lack the sicker I get. This has been happening for many years now but as I always try my best to help the average American gun owner I am older and I am not able to do as much as I would like. The new breed of gun worker is a shock to me because I lived in the best of times where a handgun was made by factories that not only cared but the workers cared. In my opinion as a general rule this is not true anymore. Your products are now motivated as a general rule by pure human greed for more money and less quality.

I have no idea where some of these internal parts are made. Its like the knives that are available for sale now are made over seas some where as are these gun parts. As for the knives its different because the knives from Japan and Taiwan are some times made very well. I can not say the same about the internal parts of your handgun. It sickens me to see how they have gone down hill. IT SEEMS MOST OF AMERICAN INDUSTRY HAS BEEN OUTSOURCED, THEY MAY NOT ADMIT IT BUT THIS IS WHAT I BELIEVE. Always follow the money trail.

Its very important that you take me serious and get prepared for hard times. Before this year is up I would like to buy a new in box Glock 17, they wholesale for about $440.00 and I would get at least ten (10) magazines for it. I do not care if you do not like the looks of it or the feel of the grip, I am only concerned with a handgun that is made fairly well and reliable and all parts are available and I can buy all the magazines and 9mm ammunition I would need. This is no time to procrastinate, if you do, you will regret the delays you have put off in preparation for very difficult times we all face.

I get a lot of email about all kinds of complaints as people still do not know what kind of handgun or caliber to buy. Its very simple when you break it down, having a four thousand dollar custom 1911 pistol is not the answer, whether its reliable or not or whether you need a helper to rack the slide. What you need is to be practical and get a 9mm where ammo will be available and you need dependability and parts and magazines and springs and holsters. The rest is all BS. Only 3 guns that I like fall into this catagory.

One is either the Glock 19, or for a property handgun I would go with the Glock 17. Another choice for me would be the Beretta 92FS and you can have all the reliability and fire power you will ever need. No point in telling me what I left out as I know exactly what is available but at this point in time I can give you exact details why I would not select any of the others. The third pick must be mentioned and that is the Browning Hi Power, although I have never used one as much as Mr. Camp has, they are John Brownings best design. Now you 1911 people calm down, I never said that a 1911 can not be made reliable.

The problem with the 1911 pistol is that there are too many plumbers that are always ruining the internals. Believe me beautiful checkering will not save your life. The 1911 design is not as easy to work on as most of you think, there are no such things as drop in parts, its all BS. If you change out your trigger in the 1911 pistol, depending on the geometry, your grip safety may not work or your thumb safety may not work. If it has a firing pin safety system when you change the geometry your plunger lever in the frame may not rise at the proper elevation and push the plunger in the slide to clear the firing pin. If you doubt me and have changed all these components, look and see if you have used Colts number 1 plunger lever, this is the lever in the frame, and a number is stamped on it.

If you have, it probably is not rising high enough. To confirm this take out your firing pin which is in the slide and the plunger that interfaces with it and see if its chewed up, if is all chattered you have a major problem. This could cost you your life. What is happening is that when you pull the trigger your firing pin is crashing into your slide plunger. These other systems like in the 1911 Kimber work a little different as does the SW 1911 pistol. The Para Ornance 1911 pistol is more like the Colt series 80 and do not let any fool tell you to just remove the parts and discard them, these people that do this are just plain stupid and incompetant. Do not let just anyone play with your life and the lives of your family.

Another handgun that I will never buy for myself anymore is a Sig 226 because they have not only cheapened the internal parts and also I am left handed and do not like a decocker. I do not use a safety on some handguns I like. I think the older Sig pistols were made much better and another thing that bothers me about all Sig pistols is the fragile hammer reset spring. You can see a picture of this spring at www.truthaboutparts.blogspot.com The Sig 239 in my opinion is their best carry option as the reset spring is stronger and is on the left side and in my opinion there is less chance for breakage. It requires more mainspring power to ignite a hard primer when a hammer reset spring design is used. This is my personal opinion and most gun hacks do not understand how to make a Sig action reliable, you just can not cut springs.

I will always think that the HK P7 M8 is the best 9mm on the planet. I just worry about getting parts for this handgun. For a lefty like me there is nothing better. When the slide is locked back all you must do is squeeze in the front cocking strap. It has made my life much easier when I carry this wonderful pistol. Its more accurate than most handguns right out of the box, just ask some one that owns one and they will confirm this. Having an HK USP is not a bad idea but the downside is not only cost, but parts availability. Want to change your recoil spring that is captivated with a lock ring, you can not do it as the factory has a jig to break the old lock ring and then after they install a new spring they install a new lock ring on the front of the guide rod using this factory jig.

I can buy two Glocks for the price of one HK USP. Need and extra magazine for your USP that is an original german magazine, be prepared to spend about fifty ($50.00) each. I can buy three (3) Glock magazines for fifty dollars. The smaller compact USP generally seems to have a very slow trigger return system. I know how to correct this but its not that easy. The larger USP pistols do not usually have this problem. I could go over every model I have ever worked on and tell you the pros and cons whether its a semi auto or a revolver but in the end we are back to my same recommendations, which is to buy a Glock 19, or 17 or a Beretta 92FS or my third choice in hi capacity pistols which is the Browning Hi Power all available in 9mm...

I like the older BHP Pistols and they were at one time made beautiful inside but with current technology all parts are made with profit margin in mind. I always preferred a straight spur hammer and if one did bite the web of your hand, all you must do is shorten your straight spur by 1/8 of an inch. There is no reason to install a small ring hammer where it becomes very difficult to cock the gun with one hand. My friend Mr. Camp is a wealth of knowledge on the BHP and you should all visit his website at www.hipowersandhandguns.com
I strongly recommend the purchase of his books as they are excellent.

For those that want the very best 1911 out there for carrying purposes I recommend that you buy a Springfield Armory mil-spec pistol which costs about $450.00 BRAND NEW, this is a very well made handgun and it just needs to be refined, it does not need new barrels or anything major. For magazines I suggest you buy them fom Virgil Tripp as he makes and sells his "COBRA" magazines. www.trippresearch.com Virgil will be coming out with his latest updated magazine very soon. He uses Chrome Silicon magazine springs as I do. I still use Wolff springs for many applications as they are well made.

If you want to know more about Chrome Silicon wire magazines go to www.ismi-gunsprings.com or you can call Marc at 800 773 1940, he will be glad to help you.

For Ammunition I would go to www.ammoman.com

For the finest lubrication for your handgun or rifle action I would go to www.militec-1.com

NO, I DO NOT TAKE BRIBES TO PUT UP WEBSITES, I DO ALL THIS ON MY OWN TO HELP YOU FIND THE VERY BEST PRODUCTS MONEY CAN BUY. ANOTHER THING, I DO NOT CARE IF YOU DO NOT LIKE ME OR MY WAYS, I AM SINCERE AND I AM HONEST AND I HAVE NO AGENDA OTHER THAN THE TRUTH. IF I CAN HELP SAVE ONE DECENT PERSONS LIFE, THIS WILL ALL HAVE BEEN WORTH MY EFFORTS.

GLOBAL JIHAD

Bin Laden's new threatsThrough al-Jazeera, releases recording rallying around Sudan as battleground

Osama bin Laden

WASHINGTON – Osama bin Laden issued new threats against the West and called on his followers to go to Sudan to fight United Nations forces there, in a recording released through the Arab TV network al-Jazeera.
Just two days ago,

Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin and WND reported exclusively that a new bin Laden recording would be released imminently through al-Jazeera.

In his first new message in three months, bin Laden said the West's decision to cut off funds to the Palestinians because their Hamas leaders refuse to recognize Israel proved the U.S. and Europe were conducting "a Zionist crusader war on Islam."

"The blockade which the West is imposing on the government of Hamas proves that there is a Zionist crusader war on Islam," he said. "I say that this war is the joint responsibility of the people and the governments. While the war continues, the people renew their allegiance to their rulers and politicians and continue to send their sons to our countries to fight us."

U.S. intelligence officials here said they had no way to verify the authenticity of the tape but did not dispute that it sounded like bin Laden.

Israel has indicted two West Bank militants for al-Qaida membership and a Palestinian security official has acknowledged al-Qaida is "organizing cells and gathering supporters."

"I call on mujahedeen and their supporters, especially in Sudan and the Arab peninsula, to prepare for long war again the crusader plunderers in Western Sudan,” said bin Laden. “Our goal is not defending the Khartoum government but to defend Islam, its land and its people. I urge holy warriors to be acquainted with the land and the tribes in Darfur."

It was the first purported new message from bin Laden since Jan. 19. In that audiotape, he warned that his fighters were preparing new attacks in the United States but offered the American people a "long-term truce" without specifying the conditions.

In the message broadcast Sunday, bin Laden also called for a global Muslim boycott of American goods similar to the recent boycott of Danish products after the publication there of caricatures of the Muslim Prophet Muhammad.

He also said the artists who drew those offending cartoons should be handed over to him for trial and punishment.

Last Friday,

a WND report predicted the imminent release of a new recording by bin Laden through al-Jazeera. That report was based on an interview with Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir, who has met with bin Laden.

Mir, who conducted the only post-9/11 interviews with bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri, says that he remains in sporadic indirect contact with the elusive emir and other al-Qaida officials.

During one of Mir's interviews, bin Laden announced that he had managed to acquire nuclear weapons for use in the great jihad against the United States.

"It is not difficult [to obtain tactical nukes]," the al-Qaida chieftain said, "not if you have contacts in Russia with other militant groups. They are available for $10 million and $20 million."

Just over a month ago, on March 15, Rep. Curt Weldon, R-Pa., told the Philadelphia Inquirer that bin Laden had died of natural causes in Iran. The source for Weldon's monumental announcement was an Iranian exile with the codename Ali. "Ali," he said, "told me that Osama bin Laden is dead. He died in Iran."

Mir's account of the present whereabouts of the elusive emir confirms

a story published by WorldNetDaily Aug. 6, 2005.

Bin Laden, according to Mir, has recently met with Mullah Omar in Afghanistan and will appear on al-Jazeera, the Arab news network, with "a very important message" for the American people within the immediate future.
