PARTS - This is what I buy
WELCOME TO THE NO BS ZONE OF TEDDY JACOBSON
I get so many emails about this subject that I must try and settle it once and for all. Last year I had a computer that crashed and I had 18,000 emails on it. LETS CUT TO THE CHASE, NO BS. I DO NOT HAVE TO LIKE A PERSON OR A COMPANY IN ORDER TO BUY THEIR PARTS OR PRODUCTS, IN FACT MANY CASES I DO NOT LIKE THEM, BUT THAT IS IRRELEVANT.
Lets go through the 1911 parts first:
For TRIGGERS I just started to use the ones made by GREIDER and I also use KING and McCORMICK. I have been very disappointed with Brown triggers, Wilson has a premium trigger that is way to expensive for me and his drop in trigger is poor at best in my opinion.
For HAMMERS I like the McCORMICK MIM HAMMERS for my routine repair work. I buy C&S ultra light hammers for my custom 1911 pistols only. I do not like Brown Hammers as well as the other brands, I have looked at most all of them.
For HAMMER STRUTS I buy McCORMICK and I do extensive modifications to each one I use.
For SEARS I have been buying them from Caspian, I know they do "NOT" make them, they just buy them from some one else, these are good hard sears and work well for my routine repair work. I buy C&S tactical Sears for my 1911 custom work only.
For DISCONNECTORS, I buy the Caspian product which they do "NOT" make, they just sell it. I rework every disconnector extensively by hand. The McCormick disconnector with the do- nut on top is ok but only in certain frames, not all. This is my opinion only.
For MAINSPRING HOUSINGS I find that for my needs that BROWN is the best. I have used them all and I know the difference.
For GRIP SAFETIES I buy the KING PRODUCTS and I do use BROWN once in a while. I do not like to use the Wilson grip safeties in a series 70 unless the customer insists that is what he or she must have. I will use SMITH & ALEXANDER once in a while.
Fot THUMB SAFETIES I only buy BROWN, either their tactical version or the wide paddle for a target gun. I usually always reshape the wide paddle version.
For AMBI models, there are none that are any good but when I do install one its always the BROWN model.
For MAGAZINE CATCH ASSEMBLIES, I generally buy BROWN or McCORMICK.
For PLUNGER TUBES I believe that KIMBER is best, but if I need one with longer staking rivets I buy BROWN.
For BARREL LINKS I buy WILSON BARREL LINKS, which I find are made the best.
For FULL LENGTH GUIDE RODS I find that WILSON are as good as any. I do modify the guide rod head extensively on each one I install. The heads are the wrong shape for a Government Model barrel.
For EJECTORS on a Government Model, I use either KING or BROWN. For Commanders I buy Colt Ejectors.
I stock at least 3000 springs and most of them are WOLFF MUSIC WIRE. For my more severe applications I buy STAINLESS SPRINGS and CHROME SILICON ALLOY WIRE SPRINGS from ISMI in Indiana.
For 1911 MAGAZINES I have no doubt that TRIPP RESEARCH makes the very best and they call them COBRA MAGAZINES. METAL FORM is good but I do not like their followers. I do not ever buy Wilson, McCormick or an off brand magazine for a 1911 pistol. WOLFF MAGAZINES are made by Metal Form and they are good.
For 1911 BARRELS I use KART or BRILEY. I do not buy Barsto Barrels. The link on Kart barrels is not as well made as Wilson links. This is my opinion.
For BARREL BUSHINGS I like to buy KING and sometimes I use a BRILEY SPHERICAL BUSHING, they are both well made.
I do all my personal modifications to every part I buy and install. I do not drop in any parts like the "EXPERT GURUS". I have my very own procedures for everything, It has taken me years to work this all out. It all goes to the grave with me. My biggest fear is that some one would use my knowledge to rip people off so they can get to BENJAMIN FRANKLIN AVE at my expense.
When I have a choice I use an "EXTERNAL EXTRACTOR" on a custom 1911 pistol. If I need to use an "INTERNAL EXTRACTOR" I buy only Caspian or Colt.
ITS ALL IN THE HEAT TREATING and you must never buy a cast extractor of any kind. I do not buy Internal Extractors made by BROWN OR WILSON, etc, etc.
All my permanent internal screw settings are done using size 80 and 72 stainless steel screws and I usually silver solder them after all final adjustments are made.
I use CASPIAN OVER SIZE FIRING PIN STOPS.
I use Brass trigger rivets in certain brand Triggers that I make for final adjustments.
For a Browning Hi Power I "NEVER" use anything but original factory parts.
For Sig Sauer Pistols I "NEVER" use any after market parts.
For Beretta Pistols I "NEVER" use any after market parts except for the Wolff trigger conversion unit assembly.
For Glock Pistols I use FACTORY PARTS except for the Guide rods where I will use either Wolff or ISMI.
For MOST FACTORY GUNS I use factory parts and I stock hundreds of parts for most every popular model that I work on.
I do use Wolff Springs in most every handgun I work on. This is basically their hammer springs.
For NIGHT SIGHTS I ONLY BUY MEPROLIGHT or TRIJICON and when a customer wants X/S SIGHTS I use them (formerly known as Ashley outdoors).
My LUBRICATION requirements are very simple, I use MILITEC 99% of the time.
Once in a while I will air brush a CERAMIC or MOLY FINISH and bake it on a barrel.
If I have left anything out that you would like me to cover please email me and I will respond. These products I have mentioned are the best for me and my customers. I NEVER BUY A PART THAT SAYS "TITANIUM" , I MEAN "NEVER", If you do not like my choices you are free to buy anything you like.
If I have burst your Bubble, deal with it, I speak from extensive experience. Go to the GOOGLE search engine and type in "TEDDY JACOBSON" and see what you can learn about me. Use the quotation marks in your search.
I have told you what I sincerely believe is the very best parts for the money.

Thankyou.....
