My Thoughts - Working Guns
WELCOME TO THE NO BS ZONE OF TEDDY JACOBSON
I have owned a pistol or revolver since 1959. I never wanted to carry a custom work of art, what has always concerned me most was total reliability. I have always admired a nice looking custom handgun, they are beautiful regardless of whether it is a 1911 pistol or a fully engraved Browning Hi Power. I could never carry a gun like that because my mind does not think "COSMETICS" , although I do admire this kind of work a great deal, It does not belong in my world of reality.
I recently made my self a custom 1911 pistol and I have showed it to many people that read this commentary. This pistol is superb with an external extractor system and everything is fit to perfection, but its nothing fancy. I do not want to own anything but a very well made solid performer that is made internally like a swiss watch movement.
The Kommandos on these forums are still fighting the same war daily of how to work on the internals of the 1911, the gun is almost 100 years old, don't you think they could have figured out what is right and what is wrong by now. And you want to trust your life to these "GURUS" that never worked as a professional "SMITH"........ GET REAL......
The PROJECT STREET GUN we are going to use has already been purchased by many people for under $500.00 and has worked flawlessly out of the box. Some of these people have already emailed me with an initial range report.
Mr. Camp has already done a wonderful write up on his mil-spec SA after he fired it with out all the internal refinements its going to receive.
When I carry a concealed handgun I personally do not care if its a revolver or a semi auto pistol or if its a 38 special caliber, 9 mm, 40 sw, or 45 acp, etc, etc. Because of my type of business I keep loaded guns everywhere. I will never use a big caliber because of over penetration, that is why I retired my SW 657 in 41 magnum and my SW 629 in 44 magnum. I can not take the chance of penetrating a wall and hitting innocent people. I can't take a chance of losing my hearing or my DAWGS hearing. I pick practical survival guns, including a practical rifle.
I am not here to cow down to anyone and say what pleases the masses. It is reality, I will not carry anything too powerful in a car, Have you ever fired a big caliber in an enclosed area ?? BAD NEWS............ We must make real decisions, I use Beretta 92 F pistols and a Beretta Cougar in 9 mm , I assure you it will do the job if I do my part and put the bullet in a critical area of some unwanted person that kicks open my door.
I do not have to be packing a 3 lb. handgun all the time in SW TEXAS weather, too heavy, too hard to conceal, too uncomfortable when sitting for long periods of time. This is my personal opinion only. Please do not think I do not like these large frame handguns, of course I like them, but I make practical decisions.
My Glock as some people think is an ugly duckling and partially polymer, so what, it works, it is accurate, and it has a tremendous appetite and will digest anything like a disposal. What more could I want in an emergency ??
I am not a fancy guy, I live moderately and I am very conservative in what I do believe in, I tell my customers what I sincerely believe. I can be comfortable using a Ruger SP101 or an SW 642, and I like my NAA mini revolver that stays in my pocket. These are working guns that are flawless for my kind of world of survival. I go with technology when it comes to ammo selection, YOU WILL NEVER SEE ME CARRY BALL AMMO OF ANY KIND OR BRAND OR CALIBER. I may shoot some at the range but it stops right there cause I do not believe the BS on the Forums or some of these entertaiment publications.
I will still tell you that my favorite pistol is my HK P7 M8 but its 29 ounces empty and its very valuable to me and I do not want to lose it. I do not want it confiscated if a shooting occurs, I do not want a case number engraved on the frame. If I lose my Glock, one phone call and I have another Glock delivered the very next day.
So my choice in carry guns is basically very open minded. I can be very happy carrying a MAKAROV in 9x18 caliber. The key ingredient is my selection of the most destructive bullet made in todays world of advanced technology using current powders that were non existent years ago. If I can't hit my target, I certainly can't blame an accurate handgun or rifle, I got to blame the schmuck in the mirror.
I wanted you to realize my selections are based on the flawless operation of a survival handgun that has very refined parts. All my carry handguns will eventually show holster wear, I must live with that, they are tools of the survival business I am in. My job is to help you keep your self alive. I do not use rubber grips on carry guns because clothing clings to it and I must be practical. I carried a Browning 380 acp hammerless pistol for years, never had a problem with it, made a big mistake by selling it.
Having a beautiful looking handgun is a wonderful idea but in the real world thats not a priority. Your priorities should be practical. Its like buying a very expensive exotic leather hand made holster for concealed carry, what is the point ?? No one will be allowed to see this holster. Concealed means concealed and the states mean what they say. Carry what is practical, keep the custom guns in your safe, where they will not get scratched and so you will not have a stroke.
Thanks for being here in my world.
