Continuation - Unique Problems

WELCOME TO THE NO BS ZONE OF TEDDY JACOBSON

Please Note, Ever since I announced my semi retirement my phone has been ringing off the wall and my emails have not stopped. I do answer everyone, and if I have missed you it was my error. People had many years to have work done by me and now its a little late, I will still do some jobs but nothing like before. I never dreamed I would get such a response. People wear out, its just a fact of life and when it is time to cut back its a very hard decision. It was agony for me.

I WILL NOT LET ANYONE PRESSURE ME WITH ANY OF THEIR PROBLEMS, THOSE DAYS ARE LONG GONE.

The fools on the forums and chat rooms continue to attack me and for the record I left 95% of the forums on my own free will. How can these brain dead MORONS know what I can achieve in my work if they have never seen it, yet they continue to attack my skills because of me being so opinionated. Its like a person eating Spam and thinks its great because they have never dined in a fine restaurant. I say let them enjoy their ignorance because they do not and will never know any better, they are used to living with the before and they will never experience the after. Another parrallel comes to mind if they go out with a 350 lb. woman and they are happy that is wonderful but they have never experienced the finest that life has to offer by going out with a beautiful woman from Brazil or Argentina, etc, etc, enough said. Its their loss and let them think they are king of the hill, when they really know "NOTHING".....
Having a magazine article written about your work is forgotten 4 weeks after it has been out as the people throw away the magazines. The real winner is the writer who is always remembered for his photos or the superb article he has written. If anyone understands this its me as I have over 60 articles in print. Having one or two magazine articles in print does NOT make you a household word, it gives you brief notoriety for ABOUT 4 weeks and then people forget your name. You need to have continuous articles in print year after year after year, like I have. Stephen Camp is one of the finest Gun Writers of this generation.

Working on a Ruger revolver is a real challenge because there is no side plate to remove and observe the action as it is worked to find the faults. A person must understand the obvious symptoms of the design and completely understand each part and what it does in order to correct the problems. This is nothing you want to tackle until you fully understand how the ruger revolver works. I have had misery trying to improve the trigger return system of these ruger revolvers, I know what the problem is and where it is but it is not easy to correct this design. I can make it better, no question but I can not eliminate the problem completely. Ruger is still an excellent revolver. Its a massive frame and will generally handle most any load with ease. I did a GP100 for my friend Jess many years ago and that revolver saved his life. I did a GP 100 for my friend Paul and its as smooth as glass and it will never let him down.

I like to work on Browning Hi Powers (BHP) as they are in my opinion the best design that John Browning ever came up with. I do not like to use after market parts for the BHP, I have found that thru the years that the original factory parts are as good as they get. This pistol is a solid performer and it has a wonderful feel in your hand like no other. Many people do not know how to work on this handgun because if you create a gap between the thumb safety and the sear your sear will never be locked up properly and will be un safe. It is necessary to remove the magazine safety in order to achieve a good trigger pull. Many people refuse to do this and the magazine safety can be modified to work with less friction as it scrapes the top of your magazine in the take up mode but the grinding will still be present but less pronounced. The only sure way of getting a good trigger pull is to remove the magazine safety. I do not know of anyone that makes a jig to work on this pistol as Tom Wilson who used to make them is no longer in business. You may find the Powers jig will work using the right adapter. There is no point in my opinion of changing the hole in the slide to re arrange the pivot point of the internal lever, who wants to go before a grand jury with an obvious hole in your slide. This again is my opinion only. I have so many shootings with the guns I work on, its always on my mind. I do not recommend the BHP in 40 SW caliber.

The HK series of handguns are very good but over priced. I like most of them but not all. I would never buy the LEM trigger model. My favorite model is the P7 M8 and it has now been discontinued by the factory. It is the finest most accurate 9mm on the planet. I can get the spongy effect out of the take up. Of course I will no longer be taking in much work at all anymore. I like the USP compact even though they suffer from a poor trigger pull and a poor trigger return system that can be corrected. I own a USP in 45 acp that will work as well as any 1911 commander out there. The HK is accurate and does not jam providing you do not feed it garbage. I do not have to worry about it, as it is good to go any time nite or day. I have seen the new HK 2000 SK model and its about the size of the mini Glock, but the price is probably close to one thousand dollars. It has the LEM trigger design, as least the version I have seen has. Would I buy one ?? NO

Glock pistols have been my main carry gun for years. I have been able to get the spongy effect out of the take up. Some people tell me how ugly they are and some call them Mattell and Tuperware but when the chips are down they always work. If you follow instructions and do not use reloads you will not have any problems. The newer Glocks have a different finish on the steel slide that can be seen as a sheen. I think that if you want hi Capacity magazines for any handgun, now is the time to buy them, don't wait as you can never rely on a politician that says the ban is over. It could come back to life and that would effect us all.
I never use a 3.5 lb. connector as it gives you a mushy trigger pull. I can not live with that. The best all around Glock for most people in my opinion is the model 19 which is chambered in 9mm.

To sum it all up, I can not decide anything for you as everyones requirements are different, your hand sizes vary. Your applications vary. One thing you must do is practice regardless of your selection. The fact that you are capable of shooting good groups on paper does not give you the proper mindset that is necessary to actually shoot an attacker. Its like training for a boxing match or in a dojo for a Karate fight, one can never be sure how you will react until that day really comes and you are faced with a real life and death decision. If you hesitate and you do not react instinctively you will be carried by 6. You will not be judged by 12.
Funerals are for the living and not for the dead. Its your choice in the end.

Mr. Camp and Mr. Taylor and I have talked about a better primer seal for a while now. Mr. Camp has already done extensive testing of a new chemical composition that is nothing like red nail polish. No one should ever carry a handgun for protection of life and property unless their carry ammunition has been sealed at the primer area. This is the real world.

For those that do not like my opinions go back to your BS forums and Chat rooms and listen to the Kloset Keyboard Kommandos, thats where you belong. They will tell you anything you want to know, they have limited experience but are masters at deception and BS.

AUTHORS PERSONAL NOTATION:
This commentary as well as all my previous commentaries are my personal opinion and my personal viewpoint only. When some one asks me a question and I do not know the answer, I tell them the truth that I do not know.
