Concealed Handgun Carry

I have a concealed handgun carry license and I carry either a Glock 27 or my HK P7 M8. Its very difficult to conceal a 2 1/2 lb. handgun in 95 degree temperature. Many people in all walks of life that carry a handgun have now found out their life style requires a specific method of carry. A specific application for one is not good for someone else. Do you want to carry a handgun all the time on the outside of your belt or in an inside the waistband holster or an ankle holster ??? DO NOT ever make the mistake of buying and carrying a middle of the back (MOB) holster because if you ever fall on concrete on your back you may never walk again, even most Police do not even carry handcuffs in the middle of their back for that very reason.

You need to decide what is best for you. Do you want to carry extra ammunition ??? Many people do, I do not. I have my friend LOU ALESSI (phone 716 691 5615) make all my left handed holsters for me and my velcro belts. When I get a new holster I put synthetic silicone inside the leather holster as Lou makes them very snug as they are hand boned. I like to wear a pistol on the outside as its easier to sit down with out it digging into you, and I like a forward "cant" so that no one can easily pull it out of my holster from behind. I do not use or like a safety snap on my holsters. I have tried every possible method of carry since 1970 except M.O.B. which I think is insane.

The best possible concealable way to carry for deep cover is a Belly Band type holster for a small to medium frame handgun. That would go over your Tee shirt and under your regular shirt, when you need to retrieve it just unbutton part of your shirt and its accessible in a cross draw type carry. It restricts your comfort some what but you can get used to it. The best one I have seen is the DeSantis model 60.

When you order a custom holster, you must order the correct belt size slots you are going to use, because you do not want your new holster with large slots using a thin belt, you must have a stable holster that will not rotate. You can select the color you want. There is NO point in buying exotic leather, it makes no sense because we are talking about "CONCEALED" and no one will see this holster but you. When your STATE requires it be CONCEALED, you better pay attention.

Being left handed I have a real problem as I live in a right handed world, finding a specific holster, so I just tell Lou what I want and I leave the rest up to his expertise.
In the 1970's I carried my S&W model 60 in an ankle holster and it was the best ankle holster I could find in those days, nothing to compare to Alessi's ankle holster being made today.
I always wore the revolver on the inside of my left ankle, never on the outside, just my personal choice, less visibility to anyone. You can not run using an ankle holster like mine.

Women have it a lot easier, if they just buy a handbag form CORONADO LEATHER COMPANY which is made to carry a handgun. Only you can decide your specific carry requirements, not me, all I can do is present different options to help you in your selection process. A lot depends on your life style and the climate you live in and the type of handgun you carry. Carrying a 2 1/2 lb. handgun grows old very quickly, I know as I have been there and done that.

Please read previous commentary about cleaning and maintaining your handgun.

PLEASE NOTE: I get an awful lot of emails and I make every attempt to answer each one in a very timely many, but once in a while one slips by me, if you have not heard a response from me, please either resend your email or call me most any day after 10 am central time. I remain only one person, not only do I do the actual gun work, I farm out nothing to anyone. I do all the ordering and the invoices and take the phone calls and log everything in and check my emails about 4 times a day.
Janet does all my shipping for me twice a week.
Please let me know if you like my commentaries and pass on this Blogger website everywhere.
Thankyou........
