This subject covers a lot of areas as I constantly get emails and phone calls about what I would recommend that people should purchase. I can only present your many options. This is but one area that comes up daily. In order to understand what people need I must know the gender of the person and the purpose of the handgun to be selected. How will it be used and I must know whether the person is right or left handed. I must know if it will be carried daily and in what climate.
TRIGGER PULLS ARE DIFFERENT WHEN PULLED WITH THE RIGHT HAND VS. THE LEFT HAND USING THE VERY SAME HANDGUN. MOST OF THE EXPERTS DO NOT KNOW THAT...
A lot depends on the answers I get as I ask a lot of questions, that is why when people email me I always respond - call me - lets discuss your options. Sure I have limited time but this is something I must do to help people. I have no personal agenda, except I am really tired of the BS. I do not sit in front of a computer very long as I am too busy running my business and my life. I work all hours of the day and night in order to do all that I do alone.
The next area of decisions are what caliber should some one purchase ?? again my answer depends on what you tell me. If you want a survival gun, you must have a caliber that you can get in very hard times. There have been more people put on "ICE" after having been hit with 38 special ammo, or 22 long rifle, 9mm, 357 mag, etc, etc, than a 45 acp round. A frail 100 lb. 75 year old woman has no need to pack a 1911 government model pistol, makes no sense. My decisions are based on reality, I have absolutely no reason to deceive anyone that would ever contact me. Think a 22 long rifle is a joke, shoot a CCI STINGER bullet into a watermelon and see what happens using a rifle.
Every individual decision must be based on current requirements , and not some propaganda in an advertisement or a person spouting an agenda that leads to Ft Knox where Mr Franklin was born.
Then I get questions about parts, now its hard for people to realize different brands may indeed have the very same exact part. Don't like what I am saying - TOUGH - deal with this reality or go back to your BS forum and see what Mr. Kommando wearing his black pajamas will tell you in the safety of his cubicle. I wish there was an easy answer for these parts as it would make my life a whole lot easier. I wanted to buy some McCormick triggers this week from Brownells, OUT OF STOCK was the answer I got. I called McCormick and I asked them if they had some, the answer I got, OUT OF STOCK for about another month. I asked very politely if they were made in a foreign country, answer was MADE IN USA. What is the problem I asked, answer I got was, Its hard to get steel.......... OK...........
I will move on and buy some one else's trigger.
I must decide what will work best in your handgun. Your life depends on me and the decisions I make in your behalf. I get quite a few shootings every year with the handguns I have worked on nationwide and I am not about to let you down.
You may want a specific part, if I think its inferior I will not use it. I get email all the time from people that have already purchased the very parts they insist that I am to use. If I determine that they are sub standard, I will NOT use them and I will decline the job.
I can not be intimidated to be forced to do something for "DOLLARS" that I know is wrong and that I will regret. If you are depending on me, then let me guide you in order to make the right choice. In my world its not always about making more money, I must decide what is best and I must do what is right for your specific application. " I ALWAYS RETURN EVERYONES OLD PARTS "
I have been getting a lot of email lately about people wanting an SW "J" frame revolver. I regret to say that in my opinion the older "J" frames were made better. I can not change that. The new current models will do the job and they work well but they are not the same.
Many people keep writing me about a Bersa pistol which is made in Argentina, not my personal choice, if you like it that is all that counts. In my youth I would have liked Argentine women better than a Bersa.
In a world so full of compromise I WILL NOT. I am continuing to look into other industries products that are far more advanced than anything the traditional gunsmith is still using.
I have helped a great many people all my life, when they took advantage and pushed too far or insulted me, I immediately severed ties. When its over, its over.
Many people are telling me they want more commentaries about knives. At this point in time I like to own large folders. I like an AXIS lock or a folder that has a secondary lock so that the blade will not close on my fingers. I like to use Japanese water stones for sharpening but its not as easy as some of the other stones or for a real quick edge nothing beats a diamond plate. I will get into more commentaries about knives and steel and sharpening.
I am asking all of you to open your eyes and think about your decisions before you purchase anything. If you want my opinion on anything, just email me.
As for gun dates of manufacture or gun values, I do not know because I do not buy and or sell guns. Buy the BLUE BOOK OF GUN VALUES...www.bluebookinc.com
Thanks for visiting my world of reality...
