Sig Sauer P 229

This pistol has become one of Law Enforcements most popular models for a very good reason, its a well made reliable pistol. It has a very strong slide and an aluminum alloy frame that is hard anodized in Germany. It has an external extractor system that has been improved. I have done an awful lot of trigger work on this model and I very seldom have any problems with this handgun. It is very heavy when fully loaded and would be difficult for me to tote around on a daily basis as I do my little Glock 27.

They now use a new hammer strut and a new short hammer spring that is housed in a plastic retainer which works well. This 229 works and it works very well and is available in a number of different calibers. Many Law Enforcement agencies are using 40 S&W caliber handguns. They have had some very outstanding results using this 40 caliber handgun to stop an attacker instantly, providing the bullet is placed in a vital area.

A short time ago I had to replace an extractor in this 229 and the new upgraded extractor is identified with three (3) shallow scallops on the lower front edge. Another words looking at the breech face, the extractor being on the left, the lower front edge of the extractor has 3 half circles on the lower ledge for identification telling you that it is the latest revised and upgraded extractor for this model.

Sig has designed a new stronger trigger return spring for most of their models, but the new grip panel on the right side is cut out to accept this new stronger looped wire spring. This new spring will not work with the older old style right grip panel, it must be replaced by upgraded grips.

I have had excellent results doing trigger work on this 229 as well as all the other models. I now fully jewel the internal trigger bar using ceramic particles. I make the Double Action 9 lbs. and I set the Single Action at 4 lbs.

As with all sig pistols this model 229 incorporates a reset spring so that it can be converted to DAO (Double Action Only) very easily at the factory. It is a very accurate pistol and there is "NO" need to buy an after market barrel to replace the excellent German Sig barrel. Save your money. There is nothing wrong with the original factory sights and if you want to improve their visibility just paint them with fluorescent paint using the color of your choice.

You have the option of getting a short trigger from the factory and this model 229 has the traditional decocking system which is best for right handed people. Do "NOT" install light weight after market hammers on any Sig pistol, you are inviting disaster with any hard primer.
Keep this pistol clean as your life depends on it and it will not let you down, use American factory ammunition and proper lubrication, when you need it for protection of life and property.
